G*STARS to Host H-1B Learning Session Featuring Two H-1B Grantees
HUDSON, Wis. – October 26, 2017 – AGS Data Systems / G*STARS will host an H-1B Grantee-to-Grantee Learning Session featuring two H-1B grantee guest speakers on Wednesday, November 8. The webinar will give H-1B TechHire, SWFI and America’s Promise grantees the opportunity to hear how BridgeValley Community and Technical College and Workforce Connection of Central New Mexico got started with their H-1B grants and how they meet federal reporting requirements with the G*STARS tracking and analytics system.
Attendees will see a brief overview of the G*STARS system that grantees use to manage and report H-1B data. Then grantees will discuss how they moved from their project implementation activities to tracking participants, including how they monitor performance outcomes and prepare for reporting deadlines, as well as insights and lessons learned from their experience with H-1B and other grants.
Carol Perry, EdD, will be presenting BridgeValley Community and Technical College’s experiences with their TechHire Grant. Perry is the TechHire Program Director for the West Virginia Technology Tranformation Initiative (WVTTI), Director of Assessment, and an Assistant Professor. WVTTI is helping transform West Virginia's south-central economy from one that is coal-dependent to one that is technology-based. WVTTI is targeting two H-1B industries: Information Technology and Advanced Manufacturing.
Tawnya Rowland will, in turn, be sharing Workforce Connection of Central New Mexico’s experiences with their TechHire Grant. Rowland is the TechHire Program Director. New Mexico Tech Connections (NMTC), a consortium of agencies in the central New Mexico Workforce Investment Area, will build a career pipeline in Information Technology and anticipates serving 450 participants over the course of four years.
