HUDSON, Wis.—Feb. 12, 2003On February 10, 2003 the Lane Workforce Partnership (LWP) held the grand opening of its second Workforce Network Center located at Lane Community College (LCC). United States Congressman for Oregon’s Fourth District Hon. Peter DeFazio participated in the presentations and ribbon cutting ceremony.

One of the highlights of the opening ceremony was "registering" Rep. DeFazio and issuing him his very own Customer Service Card. With his card in hand, he then “swiped into” The Workforce Network computer system and selected from a list of services made available to all customers of the new center. The Lane Workforce Network computer system is the G*STARS System from American Government Services, a computer firm that provides the web-based application as a subscription to the LWP. With its two locations, the valuable services provided through The Workforce Network will be easily accessible to all Lane County residents.

The Lane Workforce Partnership (LWP) is a workforce development organization dedicated to assisting employers recruit and retain employees, and to help individuals find employment and progress in their careers. Annually, the LWP works with over 450 employers in Lane County and over 5,000 Lane County residents. The Lane Workforce Partnership sets policy direction and oversees workforce development programs under the Workforce Investment Act.
