AGS Data Systems Supports Sharing Families Foundation For The Holidays
HUDSON, Wis.—Nov. 26, 2010—AGS is proud to support one of our many deserving local charities during this year’s Holiday Season. “Sharing Families”, located in River Falls, Wisconsin, is in its second decade of serving the community. Individuals and organizations "adopt" a family in need for the holidays, and donate presents and much-needed help for children of all ages, in the Western Wisconsin community.
This season, 49 families, including 68 adults and 126 children, benefited from the program. Donations provided toys, new clothing, and thousands of dollars of food donations across the families. Larger gifts include small appliances, gasoline cards, bicycles and gift cards for families with special needs.
As an employer in this mostly rural community, AGS works hard to support the needs of local agencies, organizations, and the citizenry in the area. “We want to help strengthen the fabric of the community in which we work and live, in every way that we can, and helping to make Christmas a little merrier for a needy family is a small part of what we can do,” says Derrick Edwards, President of AGS Data Systems.

HUDSON, Wis.—Feb. 17, 2010—Cincinnati, Ohio Mayor Mark Mallory and Hamilton County Commissioner David Pepper did the honors Feb. 11 at the Southwest Ohio Region Workforce Investment Board's (SWORWIB) Annual Meeting, handing out SuperAwards that honored 20 individuals, three companies, and six organizations for their leadership in the workforce system.
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services has awarded a $998,976 stimulus grant, the largest Constructing Futures Grant award in the state, to the Greater Cincinnati Regional Construction Trades Partnership, which will provide Pre-Apprenticeship training to low-income, unemployed residents of Southwestern Ohio, especially those who have historically been underrepresented within the construction industry.
The broad-based partnership is led by the Laborer's Local 265 JATC, Easter Seals Work Resource Center, and Allied Construction Industries. Training partners also include the Urban League of Greater Cincinnati, Butler Tech, Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency, Cincinnati Labor Agency for Social Services, and Straight 2 The Heart. Each will provide occupational training in various construction pathways ranging from skilled labor to deconstruction and project administrator training, along will supportive services and career counseling. Additional classes will be offered to the participants in sustainable green construction so they will be able to seek employment in the growing green economy.
This collaborative effort was formed through the efforts of Janice Urbanik, the Workforce Network's Director of Construction Career Pathways. G*STARS is the common data collection system, used by the training partners, to collect data for measuring outcomes and performance metrics. The data will be aggregated as part of the Southwest Ohio Regional Initiative, a comprehensive Region-wide project for analyzing program outcomes and deliverables.

Ohio Workforce Agencies Train on G*STARS
HUDSON, Wis.—Feb. 22, 2010—Workforce partners in Greater Cincinnati continue to move toward the G*STARS Client Tracking System that allows for quick data reporting and apples-to-apples measurement of outcomes.
The Southwest Ohio Region Workforce Investment Board, which began using G*STARS in 2006, encouraged the Greater Cincinnati Workforce Network and the United Way of Greater Cincinnati to join the SWORWIB in electronic data collection and reporting to the community through the G*STARS system. Both have, and on Dec. 14-15, 2009, the United Way's client agencies in workforce development were trained in G*STARS at the SuperJobs Center.
In addition, Workforce One in Butler, Warren and Clermont Counties, is using G*STARS. When all agencies are using the system, Greater Cincinnati will be the first region in the country to report outcomes on a common platform, and thus show the true regionwide impact of workforce training and development, says Sherry Kelley Marshall, President/CEO of the SWORWIB.
